The show is about a psychological issue, and explores the psychosomatic body attitude against those voices and sounds that contrasts the unconscious. Dance, drama, music and sounds for the short circuit that each of us lives in a society that makes impossible communication and identification in any social context.

Choreographic and theatrical language, Pupidda traces the journey of initiation of a woman in exile. A young girl after a tragic family episode moves from her island and discovers the world. She looks to her past and culture that call her back. An identity made up of joy and violence.
Pupidda evokes the sugar doll that is offered in Sicily during the celebration of the dead. Pupidda also drawn to the sacred celebration of Priapus where fecundity is celebrated; in Sicily there is a processions of witches who cast out evil spirits provided with a fallic wooden stick. Eating the sugar doll, cannibalistic ritual, gives a new energy to the girl. She recovers stimulation of the senses, pleasure of the organs, her mouth, her sex. Nourished by these evocations Pupidda finds new energy of life in her body and spirit.
Old and young. A doll of sugar. Cannibalism. A dead. A lost identity. A newfound identity. An oral part. A phallic stage. Revenge.

Inspired by "Alice in Wonderland" by Lewis Carroll, the show explores the contrast between the "power" nowadays, embodied by the queen, symbol of upper middle class and childhood that is open to many possibility of fantasy and creativity. Alice has to come out of her room to discover her identity, has  to open to the world by interacting with it, through humour and has to solve her conflicts opening to the real world. The subdivision of a space through a wire stand for the division of Alice’s room with the space of the queen  which is symbol of power. Two mirrors mean the look of an individual on the submission, the sphere of identity, the thoughts  of Alice, represented by so many Alices (dancers dressed like her), An actor is the caterpillar, the wise, the one who reveals the codes, which anticipates what is going to happen.
A contrast between power and potency, a polarized scene of two symbols, norm and practice of a relationship that is a possible approach to the world.

I started with Stravinsky's Histoire du soldat to concentrate on a choreographic score that would maintain a narrative look and that would restore the salvific and positive value of dance as a common language. Compared to the original story, my choice was to concentrate the good and the bad into one single character, imagining the duality no longer as a clash between two characters, but as an inner struggle, as in a sort of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. The meeting with the other will bring back memories. The antithetical figures that cross the scene move in a fairytale atmosphere that evokes the archetypes, their encounter produces a chain reaction that loosens the boundaries of the perennial conflict between the parts.

Giovanna Velardi

The choreographic development:

- The presentation of the first character the "light" and the "Darkness"
- The presentation of the soldier
- First deception
- The loss of the dimension of time
- The hope and the love relationship
- The unveiling of the spell
- The struggle between the soldier and the devil
- reality
- The recovery of the human dimension
- The dance of discovery
  - the end

"We must not be afraid of emotions even if their deep and strong. You cannot give up to humanity, love, common good, encounter, the other. Richness, beauty, material things turn off the light that makes us vibrate throug emotions and leave space to darknesse. Effort and will are the keys to achieve the dreams that will come true "

The clown holds by itself "conflicting characteristics"
sadness , joy , melancholy, divertissement.
To bring out a dancing clown
is the possibility to express this fantastic mixture

Giovanna Velardi

The set design is almost absent, there is a chair in the middle of the scene and a puppet. 'This is the image that welcomes the viewer. A rebellious and insolent puppet who, through its nervous movements denounces a certain impatience to wires. It 'a conscious puppet, self-aware, pervaded by an incredible vitality, unable to stay trapped in a world of rules. It's a bold and grotesque puppet that suddenly through a tutu and a red nose, turns into a dancing clown.
From then on we witness an explosion of feelings: joy, sadness, melancholy and euphoria. The puppet comes to life, It seeks the complicity of the audience and start acting with another clown that appeares on stage. The dynamic between the two is colored with poetry and tenderness and also the audience take part of the dance feeling part of a circus.
